A Turkish delight in the heart of Canary Wharf

South Quay, located along the Thames, is the perfect place for a romantic walk along the waterway, or a peaceful stroll after a day's shopping in Canary Wharf, and it is also home to one of the greatest restaurants in the Docklands.

Hazev offers the finest Turkish cuisine in the Docklands, with head chef Onder Sahan applying his expertise to dishes that are both authentic and delicious.

The restaurant menu is influenced by the flavours and culinary techniques of the Anatolian region, lightened slightly to take into account local tastes, and the wine list features a comprehensive assortment of reds and whites from the Old World and New World.

Main courses such as Tavuklu Kofte, consisting of skewers of minced chicken marinated in garlic and herbs, provide the familiar flavours of Turkish food, whilst the Iskender (a mixed grill served on bread and covered with yogurt and tomato sauce) is a filling favourite for Hazev's regular patrons.

Lamb and chicken are often seen as the staples of Turkish cuisine, but Hazev provides a selection of vegetarian dishes that is pretty much unrivalled anywhere in London.

Yogurtlu Sebze Kebabi (a dish comprising grilled aubergines, tomatoes, sweet peppers, onions served on bread with yogurt and tomato sauce) captures the mix of flavours and textures so often missing from vegetarian menus.

Meanwhile, the Havuclu Brokoli (sauteed broccoli with carrots and potatoes seasoned with garlic, herbs and fresh lime juice) could be a recipe from the pages of a health-kick cookbook, were it not for the wonderful taste and filling consistency.

If you are not stopping for a meal, the café section of the establishment is the perfect pit-stop to recharge your batteries with some flavoursome and energising Turkish coffee, and to nourish yourself with a selection of freshly-baked breads and cakes.

Dark wood furnishings and richly-coloured seating to sink into complement the superb service, making Hazev one of the true jewels in Canary Wharf's crown.
